Variation

Variations definition

Into this dialog the actual variation of a parameter is made, creating a profile in a similar way like for cross frame/stiffeners definition.

On the top of the dialog there are two options in order to selected profile type (Variation type: slope, length) and name (Variation name).

SettingDescription
Variation Table Consists of a set of a set of expressions for abscissa and ordinate shown in the right side of this table. These expressions are arithmetical terms of constants and defined formulas.

The variation between two points of the table can be entered:

  • Constant The ordinate of the table do not vary to the next point.
  • inear The ordinate of the table varies linearly to next point.
  • Parabolic variation of type 0 The ordinate of the table varies parabolically to the next point. The slope of the curve at the beginning and at the end is set to 0.0.
  • Parabolic variation of type 1 The ordinate of the table varies parabolically to the next point. The slope of the curve at the beginning is set to 0.0.
  • Parabolic variation of type 2 The ordinate of the table varies parabolically to the next point. The slope of the curve at the end is set to 0.0.
Insert/delete These options, just below the table will help you introduce or remove lines from the table.
Mirror This option will automatically mirror the stations and the interpolation type.
Reference span/reference This length helps you to visualize the variation on a specific span or distance.

After the variation is done you can add, delete, or modify an item in the right side Variations list using the buttons situated on the bottom part of the screen in order to meet the project needs. Mention that each variation name (ID) can’t be added twice into list of available profiles in order to avoid inconsistencies. Moreover, once added into list, the name of profile can’t be modified.
